I consider myself to have been privileged to call Marilyn very dear and much valued friend for a number of years. She was so outward looking encouraging not only myself but others in pursuit of their own photographic journey. Her brave fight, right until the end was so indicative of her love of life. Oh, that was wonderful! All the little stories about what they wore and how they’d saved up for that treasured piece of clothing. Unfortunately, I was nine, going on 10, when Biba moved into the old Derry & Toms building on Kensington High Street. I was standing at the bus stop with my mother and I asked if we could please go in, but she wouldn’t, she was very conservative, and that was way too “hippy dippy”! I remember it being very dark and I could see the beautiful ostrich feathers and the gold Art Deco name on the doors…
